Grids/Muttins
Depending upon the manufacturer, you may have the choice of flat or sculptured grids between panes of glass or the ability to create the affect of true-divided lite with an interior and exterior applied system of grids with a box spacer between the panes of glass. This is referred to simulated divided lite and eliminates leaks common with true-divided lite.
Exterior Trim
The exterior trim used around windows and doors is intended to compliment or enhance a homes architectural integrity. We understand architecture, and can deliver the finish carpentry necessary for any treatment. Whether layered, stacked, patterned, milled or fabricated we have you covered. In general, three species of materials are used for exterior trim. Cedar is the preferred material however, clear Douglas fir is used for period homes requiring historical accuracy while SPFP is another option. SPFP is a mixed grade of Spruce, Pine or Fir primed. This grade is used when pragmatic decisions are value based. We always specify within our proposal based on what matters most.
Pre-finishing
Exterior Trim: As an additional offered service we will pre-paint exterior trim with provided paint or color. This is additional, however it saves you time and money and gives a finished look. Otherwise, you would need to paint it yourself or hire a painter separately to chase around the home. ** Note - We do not paint sealants to match surrounding surfaces. We apply the best color matched sealants from products selected based on application of compatibilities of substrates being sealed. Pre-finishing is with 2 coats and can incur handling marks or dirt and oils transferred from ones hands. We do lightly wash pre-finished exterior trim prior to sealing. It does finish the job with all reasonable considerations. Including, provide a top cop over pre-primed coatings requiring such within 30 to 60 days.
Pre-finishing of interior wood window and door interiors and accompanying millworks: is another value added service we offer. In fact you wouldn’t want it any other way. The cost of having this done on site could be far more expensive than having the experts do so in a controlled environment. We use the best company in the business for all such pre-finish needs. The process begins with samples to either color match existing finishes or find a finish to meet most any other specific idea of color you have in mind. Once you decide on the sampled finish simply leave the rest to us. We are experienced in such matters as handling, fit and finish of all required finish carpentry including nail holes. This caliber of project is not without investment nor can many companies be trusted with such. Most companies wouldn’t have the gal if unqualified, however they wouldn’t have a problem bastardizing a vinyl window install. So just don’t get roped by overly ambitious rough carpenter types.
